Dr. Minhee Jun, is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC, starting from the fall semester of 2020. Her research interest lies in mathematical modeling and algorithm design for future wireless communications, including the integration of Internet-of-Things (IoT) and blockchain technology.
She completed her B.S. in Electrical and Engineering (EE) and Mathematics (dual major) at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea, in 2007. She received her M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from Purdue University, West Lafayette, in 2009. She completed her Ph.D. in ECE at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Pittsburgh, in 2016, with a focus on future wireless communication. Her research topic concerned the design and development of an efficient algorithm for an optimal configuration of a reconfigurable RF front-end, a multi-standards platform for future wireless communication. Since then, she has worked for CMU CyLab Biometric Center Laboratory, the lab’s spin-off start-up company (HawXeye Inc), and the lab’s collaboration company (Boss Nova Robotics). In these positions, she has designed the benchmarking system of a face-detection algorithm for an artificial intelligence and security system, developed algorithms that improve the stitching and blending tool to generate a panorama in a robot, designed a system to detect and classify sensor issues in a dynamic robot based on a panorama, and designed a barcode associator that improves label detection and label matching rate. She has published research papers in leading wireless communication journals and conference publications, including the IEEE EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking and the IEEE Global Communications Conference.
