I love two things, good stories and the learning process.
Hailing from Western Massachusetts (USA) in a multicultural household, I surrounded myself with nature, books, and good food at a young age. I always enjoyed understanding the world around me, whether it was deciphering the cloud patterns to predict the weather or developing a world of my own through reading and writing. These early interests in science, mythology, science fiction, and fantasy shaped my curiosity. How we create meaning, pass knowledge, and communicate values across generations- these questions later went into my academic and professional focus without a second thought.
Completing a bachelor's with Independent Concentration (BDIC) at UMass Amherst in 2015 focused on cultural heritage, and a master's in World Heritage Studies in 2018 from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, I am a strong advocate of interdisciplinary studies done correctly. Many educational institutions speak on the importance of interdisciplinary learning but often forget the basics needed for a student or researcher to benefit from such an experience.
In my classes, I always strive to ensure students can take away a skill that can help them in their future in their fields as a working professional. When possible, I also ensure a connection to people and communities outside the classroom.
While my work experience can be found on other pages on this site, my other professional interests include capacity building, digital learning, as well as heritage management in Asia and the Pacific.
While I certainly will learn more about myself as time goes on, I am just frankly excited to help out where needed !
