Overview

Mix'd is a shisha flavour recommendation app. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is stored.

Data Controller

Data We Collect

Mix'd does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All app data is stored locally on your device using on-device storage. We do not have access to it. The only data sent externally is anonymous usage analytics (see below).

The following is stored locally on your device only:

- Flavour preferences and recommendation history

- Saved favourite mixes and ratings

- Lounge names, menus, and lounge notes you enter

- Smoke session history, notes, and any session photos you add

- Your name, if you choose to add one for greetings

- App usage statistics (session count, streak data, XP)

- Onboarding completion status

Your name and session photos never leave your device and are never uploaded to us or anyone else.

Backups

You can create a backup of your data from within the app. The backup is a file that you save and control. It is not sent to us. You choose where it is stored and when to restore it.

Camera and Photos

Mix'd requests camera and photo library access to scan or upload shisha lounge menus, and to attach a photo to a logged session. Menu images are processed on-device using optical character recognition (OCR) to read flavour names and are not stored or transmitted. Session photos you choose to save are stored locally on your device only.

No Accounts or Sign-In

Mix'd does not require account creation, sign-in, or authentication. No usernames, email addresses, or passwords are collected.

Anonymous Analytics

Mix'd uses PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics. Analytics are disabled by default and are only enabled if you give explicit consent. You can change your choice at any time in Settings.

This helps us understand which features are popular and improve the app. It may include basic device information such as operating system, screen size, app version, and a randomly generated, anonymous identifier used only to group events from the same install. It does not include your name, precise location, contacts, or anything that could personally identify you.

Examples of anonymous events we collect:

- Which screens are visited most often

- How many mixes are generated per session

- Which flavour categories are most popular

- Mix ratings (the star value only, not what was smoked)

We do not use advertising SDKs, cookies, device fingerprinting, or any form of cross-app tracking. We do not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, the legal basis for processing anonymous analytics data is your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You are asked for consent before any analytics data is collected. No data is processed until you choose to allow it.

Data Processor

Anonymous analytics data is processed by PostHog on EU-hosted servers (eu.i.posthog.com). PostHog acts as a data processor on our behalf. Its policy is at posthog.com/privacy. No data is shared with any other third parties.

Data Retention

Anonymous analytics events are retained by PostHog for up to 12 months, then automatically deleted. Local data on your device is retained until you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the right of access, erasure, data portability, the right to object, and the right to withdraw consent (turn off analytics in Settings) at any time. Because analytics data is fully anonymous and cannot be linked back to you, access or deletion of already-sent analytics events may not be possible, but you can withdraw consent at any time to stop future collection. Data Deletion

All personal data is stored locally, so you can delete it at any time by uninstalling Mix'd or clearing the app's storage in your device settings. To stop analytics collection, toggle it off in Settings.

Age Restriction

Mix'd is intended for users aged 18 and over. Shisha and hookah products are tobacco products subject to age restrictions. By using this app you confirm that you meet the legal smoking age in your jurisdiction.

Health Disclaimer

Mix'd is a flavour recommendation tool only. We do not sell, promote, or encourage the use of tobacco products. Smoking shisha or hookah carries health risks. Please smoke responsibly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated date.
