One of the big questions with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is - where is Putnam County? There are, in fact, nine Puntnam Counties in the US, and the only geographical information given in the show is that Marcy has come "from Virginia". So which of these is it? Whilst it's likely that the New York Putnam County is the one, given that The Farm (whose production of C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E is the basis for Spelling Bee) is based in New York, you're welcome to make your own decision from the list of Putnams below!

Putnam County, NY

Located in the U.S. state of New York, Putnam County is located in the lower Hudson River Valley, and is about an hour's drive from Midtown Manhattan. Formed in 1812, the county is named for Israel Putnam, a general during the American Revolutionary War.

Located in the U.S. state of West Virginia, Putnam County is located just across the river from Charleston. Formed in 1848, the county is also named for Israel Putnam, a general during the American Revolutionary War.

Located in the northern part of the U.S. state of Florida, Putnam County is centrally located between Jacksonville, Gainville, St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. Formed in 1849, the county is also named for Benjamin A. Putnam, a lawyer, legislator and the first president of the Florida Historical Society, who have determined that he is the grandson of Israel Putnam, for whom many other Putnam Counties are named.

Putnam County has a population of 73,321 and its county seat is Palatka. Putnam County's notable residents include Peter Monroe Hagan, law enforcement officer, and black rights activist A. Philip Randolph.

Located in the U.S. state of Georgia, Putnam County is located near recreation sites Lake Oconee, Lake Sinclair and the Oconee River, and the state capital Atlanta. Formed in 1807, the county is also named for Israel Putnam, a general during the American Revolutionary War.

Putnam County is the least extensive county in the U.S. state of Illinois, with a total area of 172 square miles (roughly twice the size of Croydon). Formed in 1825, the county is also named for Israel Putnam, a general during the American Revolutionary War.

Located in the U.S. state of Indiana not far from Indianapolis, Putnam County is drained by Big Walnut Creek, which flows out into Owen County. Formed in 1821, the county is also named for Israel Putnam, a general during the American Revolutionary War.

Putnam County has a population of 36,726 and its county seat is Greencastle. Putnam County offers much in the way of sport, hosting the Indiana Smoke Softball and Baseball teams, the Putnam County Swim Team and athletics at the Big Walnut Sports Park.

Putnam County has a population of 79,854 and its county seat is Cookeville. The county is home to Tennessee Technological University and its 11,800 students, and also educates axpproximately 12,000 students in 18 schools across the county.
