History of MITA
International Conference on Multimedia Information Technology and Applications (MITA) was held at Agora, India in 2003 for the first time. MITA is designed to encourage the research community of Asia-Pacific region to share the invaluable knowledge and experiences in the new media technologies and their applications. Since the beginning of 21st century, the demand of IT in this area has been rapidly growing and especially, this region has been a test bed of mobile technology and frontrunner of many fascinating multimedia technology such as mobile contents creation, fusion technology, internet technology and on-line games. The first event in India convinced the main host, Korea Multimedia Society (KMMS) that international collaboration through MITA is valuable and mutually beneficial if it is a joint conference format co-hosted by two main contributing countries.
During 2004 and 2005, KMMS carefully built up the international relationships with the research associations of other countries, the other international conferences and workshops such as EALPIT, ICAT, and HEALTHCOM and finally decides that KMMS mainly hosts MITA with other country’s co-hosting research group of similar interests.
In 2006, MITA2006 was held at Dalian, China co-hosted with Dalian University of Light Industries and witnessed that 250 participants from 10 countries actively shared their invaluable experiences in multimedia researches.
