Tim Jones is a school librarian in Louisville, KY. This is his 17th year serving in school libraries. In 2023, Tim was recognized as the K-12 Media Literacy Teacher of the Year by the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE). In July 2022, Tim was recognized as 2022 Kentucky School Librarian of the Year by the Kentucky Association of School Librarians (KASL). Tim is passionate about media literacy, inclusion, and graphic novels - topics on which he's presented at multiple national conferences. His article "Teaching Media Literacy Using Graphic Novels" was published in Booklist Magazine in July 2022. Tim Jones additionally serves as Co-Owner, Writer-Editor, and Social Media Director for NIMCO, Inc.
Tim graduated from Western Kentucky University with a B.A. in English and Allied Language Arts, minors in Writing and Religious Studies, and an M.S. in Library Media Education. Tim has served in school libraries since 2005 (elementary, middle, and high, as well as private and public). He has coached TWO high school Future Problem Solving teams to Top 15 state finishes, including a Top 5 finish with John Hardin High School.
Tim is actively involved at the local, state, and national library association levels. He has presented nationally at ISTE Live, the NAMLE Conference, at the ALA Annual Conference, and at AASL Conference, also presenting statewide at KLA Conference, KASL Summer Refresher, KySTE Conference, NMLA Conference, and TLA Conference (the country's largest state library conference). In 2020, he presented virtually to Peru's American Women's Literary Club.
Tim is an alumnus of Second City Chicago's Comedy Writing Program, where he served as assistant director and writer on the revue Easy Clean Up. He's a co-founding member of two sketch and improvisation troupes, twice performing at the Del Close Marathon. In 2011, he led comedy writing workshops at the Governor's Scholar Program. He has co-written and directed two musicals.
During his down time, Tim likes to read, write, and perform stand-up at the occasional open mic.
