To capture those moments of mother nature, MIST Environment Club presented Nature on Lens 1.0, a photography contest to celebrate World Environment Day 2021.
In the 21st century, people hold a variety of opinions about the environment. But it is the duty of us, the academicians to shape this opinion for the greater good. Join us in this journey of shaping people’s ideas and thoughts of nature. Write to shape people’s opinions. Write to change the world for the better.
On that note MIST Environment Club is going to arranged an article writing competition "Thoughts of Nature".
Workshop on Performance of Fecal Sludge management and Water Safety plan in Bangladesh
Fecal sludge management is the systematic control of solid waste materials from any sanitation system. In our country, water safety is still a major problem for a majority of the population. With this topic in mind, MIST Environment Club organized an online session with Mr. Syful Karim who is currently working as a Research Associate (Civil and Env. Engineering), Action for Sustainable Development.
On 26th February, 2020, a Campus Hour was arranged by MIST where different clubs displayed their current and previous activities and discussed their upcoming plans and projects with the respected commandant sir, Maj Gen Md Wahid-Uz-Zaman and other MIST officials. A quiz competition on environmental issues was held on this occasion, where students from various departments had participated.
Climathon is a global climate hackathon. It is a city-based programme that offers a clear pathway to action and interaction - an opportunity for cities and citizens to co-create local ideas to shared climate challenges. At the core of the programme is an ideathon powered by local organizers; the people who know their cities and climate challenges the best. The year-round program was held by The Daily Star on 25th October, 2019. Around 40 students had taken part in this hackathon program on behalf of the MIST Environment Club.
EWCE Day was organized by the MIST Environment Club and powered by the Department of EWCE (Environmental, Water Resources, and Coastal Engineering) on 24th October 2019. There were 6 segments- the Inauguration Ceremony, Poster Presentation, Quiz Competition, Project Showcasing, and finally the Prize Giving Ceremony
The workshop was arranged by the Environment Club, MIST. Major Dr. Kazi Shamima Akter, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EWCE, MIST was the Chief Guest. Two students --- MD. Hasibul Hossain Probash and Rafid Hasan Munna, of level 4, conducted the workshop.
A seminar and an exhibition on the occasion of World Water Day 2018, were organized by MIST Environment Club and powered by the Department of EWCE on 1st April, 2018. The event was named AQUAwareness. Dr. Ainun Nishat, a renowned water resources and climate change specialist, emeritus professor of BRAC University was the chief guest for AQUAwareness. Dr. A. Atiq Rahman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies and Malik Fida A. Khan, Executive Director of CEGIS were the special guests. The seminar was followed by a poster presentation, quiz competition, photography contest, project showcasing and eventually a prize giving ceremony. Students from different universities from all over the country had participated in this event.
The workshop was arranged by the MIST Environment Club. The main purpose of the workshop was to share ideas like climate change adaptation, response to the global warming and the process of adjustment to the actual or expected climate and its effects. Students from the Department of EWCE, MIST and the Department of Environmental Science, BUP, had participated in this workshop.
This was the very first step of the MIST Environment Club on going onward towards environmental awareness. Students of the Department of EWCE had participated in the campaign.
