The Miss Sunnyside Program’s primary purpose is to give young ladies opportunities to represent and promote the City of Sunnyside throughout the state of Washington as well as provide scholarships and leadership opportunities.
Kim Frank has been on the board since 2018 after her daughter Janessa served as Miss Sunnyside 2017-2018. The experience that the program provided for her daughter and the positive impact it had representing our community encouraged her to want to serve on the Miss Sunnyside board. Kim resides in Sunnyside with her husband, Brian and son, Kaiden.
Maricruz Garza became a board member for the Miss Sunnyside program in October 2023 after her daughter, Brianna, served as Miss Sunnyside 2022-2023. Maricruz has been passionate about the pageant world ever since her daughter started competing in pageants at a young age. Maricruz loves how the Miss Sunnyside program instills confidence and leadership skills into young women in our community. Maricruz is a retired beauty school instructor and she currently resides in Sunnyside with her husband, Angel. One of her biggest joys is being a mother to her kids Angel Jr., Marc, and Brianna. She is excited to become the next member of the Miss Sunnyside board!
Laura Evans-Covington joined the Miss Sunnyside Board in March 2020 after moving to Sunnyside. Laura directs the Miss Sunnyside Pageant alongside Laurissa Ruiz (Miss Sunnyside 2nd Princess 17-18). Laura's main role within the board is to mentor the candidates to prepare them to serve as ambassadors for our community. Additionally, Laura has run the Miss Sunnyside social media and manages the website. Currently, Laura works in the Sunnyside School District as an Instructional Coach. She lives in Zillah with her husband, daughter, and many pets.

Brandi Honey Porter was 1st Princess on Miss Sunnyside Court in 1995-1996. She loved the way they got to travel to communities all over Washington state and telling them about our amazing community of Sunnyside. Her daughter decided to run for Miss Sunnyside in 2019 becoming 1st Princess for the 2019-2021 Royalty Court. Brandi loves the opportunity to volunteer for our community, support community programs, and has a strong belief in the leadership skills this program offers our high school students. Brandi teaches 4th grade at Outlook Elementary. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her children participate in lots of different activities, going on vacation, and spending time with family.
Mark Diddens became a board member for Miss Sunnyside in January of 2017. Mark became involved with the Miss Sunnyside Program when his daughter, Leah, ran for the court in 2013 and was crowned 3rd Princess. The following year, he started emceeing the Miss Sunnyside Pageant. After seeing the influence the Miss Sunnyside Program had on his daughter and all of the other candidates, he was more than happy to join the board when he was approached in 2017. Mark is the West Coast Sales Engineering Manager for Marq Packaging and lives in Sunnyside with his wife, Kristine and son, Cody.
Lori Ruiz became a board member for the Miss Sunnyside organization in September 2018 after her daughter, Laurissa was 2017-2018 2nd Princess. Lori was excited when approached to join the board. She witnessed the positive impact that the Miss Sunnyside program had on not only her daughter, but her entire family as well. Lori currently chaperones the royalty to parades and local events. Lori resides in Sunnyside with her husband, Beto, children (Laurissa, a UW graduate, A.J. at W.S.U., and Adam at W.S.U.), and is a registered nurse.
