Meet the Teacher
Hello Northwood Families!
My name is Lauren Severance and I am so excited to be a part of the Northwood Elementary Staff and Community this school year! My heart for teaching started to grow when I was in elementary school and would play school with my neighborhood friends. This passion grew as I pursued jobs that allowed me to work with children, from coaching gymnastics to being an Instructional Assistant in IUSD. I went to the University of California, Santa Barbara for my undergraduate career and continued my education at the University of California, Irvine where I completed my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master of Arts in Teaching degree. I am looking forward to this school year and getting to know each of my students!
A little bit about myself:
I grew up in Mission Viejo, California and attended college in Santa Barbara where I got to enjoy living walking distance from the beach. When I am not working, I love spending time with friends, hammocking, riding tandem bikes, hiking, and other outdoor activities! I have quite a few friends and family that live in different states, so I love to travel and visit them whenever I get the chance. Another hobby of mine includes going on road trips! Some of the big road trips I've done include driving up the coast to San Francisco, Route 66 (CA --> Chicago, IL), and a Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Park road trip in 2022. This summer I went to Maui, Cabo, Queretaro, and Lake Mead!
