This anticipation guide will encourage students to make predictions about the text and create interest in the content.
Students will individually use the post it strategy as they read, putting post it notes in any place of the graphic novel where they need clarification or where they have a strong reaction to the content they’re reading.
Students will watch a video explaining what a comic strip is and how to create their own comic strip. After watching the video, students will create a new character that Olive may be friends with and incorporate them into their own comic strip. The students must include dialogue and visual images or captions that this new character might say to Olive that could change the plot of the story.
