What is RCIA? 

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) was the last of the sacramental rites revised after Vatican Council II.  

RCIA is not a program but a sacramental process.  Though RCIA is explicitly celebrated during a period from one to three years, it reflects a sacramental attitude that is at the heart of all Christian living: conversion.  From this experience of conversion (a "turning" of the whole person, not just the intellect), one empowered by the Spirit to proclaim the gift received: liberation and redemption in and through the person of Jesus, the Christ.
