Mission Dolores Basilica Faith Formation
The sessions are from 3.00-4:45 pm.. Normally, these sessions are the first and third Saturdays of the month. However, there are a few exceptions. Once a month, there are sessions for both parents and children, which is part of our family catechesis. Because we only meet twice a month, there will be home assignments. There are other events that the families are asked to attend. To nurture and develop our young people’s faith and Catholic identity, it is critical that your family attend Sunday mass and other Days of Obligation. You are invited to attend the 5:00 pm mass on the Saturdays we meet; however, you can attend the Sunday liturgy of your choice. Each candidate will be given a Sunday log/journal where the candidate will keep track of the Sunday Gospel readings and answer questions on the readings.. The young person will give the log to their catechist once a month. In addition, there will be a sign up book at each Sunday mass where each young person will sign his/her attendance. If you attend another parish, please have someone sign their bulletin, which will also be given to the catechist once a month. The quota for each candidate is $60, for families it is $80. You must hand in a copy of your child’s baptism certificate if your child was not baptized at Mission Dolores. This will complete your registration process.
The first session will be with both parents and candidates on September 13. You will be given the calendar(s) for the year.
Las sesiones son de 3:00 a 4:45 pm. Normalmente, estas sesiones son el primer y tercer sábado del mes pero a veces hay excepciones. Una vez al mes, estas sesiones son tanto para los padres como para los jóvenes. Es parte de las catequesis de la familia. Porque solamente nos reunimos dos veces al mes, habrá tarea en casa. Hay otros eventos parroquiales a los que se les pide que asistan las familias. Para nutrir y desarrollar la fe y la identidad católica de nuestros jóvenes, es fundamental que su familia asista a la misa dominical. Están invitados de ir a la misa de las 5 los sábados que nos reunimos, pero están libres de asistir a la misa de su preferencia. A cada candidato/a se le entregará un diario dominical donde llevarán reflexiones y responderán preguntas sobre las lecturas. Además en cada misa dominical habrá un libro a la entrada donde los jóvenes escribirán sus nombres de asistencia. La cuota para cada joven es $60, por familia $80. Tienes que entregar una copia del certificado del bautismo para completar el proceso de inscripción.
La primera sesión será el 13 de septiembre con los padres y candidatos. Allí entregaré los calendarios del año.
