My name is Kyra Halvorsen, and I am your 5th-grade teacher this year! I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mid-level Education from Arkansas State University. While in that degree, I emphasized in English and History.
Before becoming a student at Arkansas State, I played college volleyball at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. My whole life has been surrounded by athletics, so I am also very excited to be the Head Volleyball coach for our middle school!
Although I did not stay at this college, it taught me a lot of life-lessons that I use everyday. To be kind, to be humble, and to always love more. I wish to always show this type of gratitude in my own classroom.
While at Arkansas State, I joined the sorority Alpha Omicron Pi. Greek Life has taught me more than I could have ever imagined. I was able to be involved in my own sorority by being the Health and Well-being Coordinator and the Director of Academics. These two offices have taught me many skills that I plan to bring into my classroom.
I am originally from Kansas City (GO CHIEFS!) and grew up loving the idea of becoming a teacher. I would always play teacher with my little sister and friends growing up. I believe teachers make a huge impact on the next generation, and I look forward to being in that role this year as a leader, friend, and role-model.
