School Counseling
Classroom Lessons
I believe that Tier 1 classroom lessons are a great way to teach skills to all students. I push into classrooms once a month and focus on different skills tailored to each grade level. See below for my 2022-2023 monthly counseling themes!
August/September: Meet the Counselor
October: Coping Skills
November: Bullying
December: Conflict Resolution
January: Technology Safety/Digital Citizenship
February: Decision Making
March: Career Exploration
April/May: No lessons due to PSSAs and spring break
Individual Counseling
I meet with students during weekly check-ins or to support them through life changes or difficult situations. At one time or another, students need a little extra support which I provide by offering a safe place to share feelings and learn skills to move forward in a healthy way. If you feel that your student would benefit from speaking with me, please reach out directly to me or speak with their teacher. I am always here to support all GV students!
Group Counseling
Small groups are a great way for students to learn from and support one another. During a small group, we talk, play games, and complete activities to build new skills. Groups are offered throughout the year either by myself, our school social worker, or our liaison through the Caron Foundation. Many of our groups are advertised through Class Dojo. If you feel that your student could benefit from an opportunity to work on and learn new skills with their peers, never hesitate to reach out!
