Why is reading important? Reading is important for many reasons. It helps get their brain engaged, which helps them to maintian information. Children who spend time reading/being read to develop a stronger vocabulary. This will be a skill they will need their whole life, so starting early is important!
Why is literature important? Having good literature for students to read is very important. The student being interested in the literature, makes them more likely to engage with the books. They will in turn be more likely to read and be open to trying different literature. When reading a variety of literature, they are learning about many different things.
