I am excited to be returning to Liberty for my eighth year; this begins the 22nd year of my teaching career. This will be my 16th year teaching in Bedford County. I am a graduate of Roanoke College and Bedford County native. I have taught multiple levels of social studies from 5th grade through 12th grade. In 2005 I moved to Turkey to teach history in an international school. Those four years changed my life and allowed me to explore my love of history and travel. Following Turkey I spent two years in Morocco where I taught history in another international school. The closeness of Morocco to Europe helped me to continue my love of travel in a very affordable manner. That time overseas was an amazing experience and I am excited to share what I have learned with my students.
I received my Masters of Art in Education (International Education) from the University of Bath, United Kingdom and have 18 credit hours at the graduate level in Political Science from Virginia Tech. Additionally I am an AP Reader for US Government and was a member of the AP Comparative Instructional Design Team. For the past five summers I have graded over thousands of AP exams in Utah. It was a great experience and I look forward to sharing what I learned with my students.
Travel continues to be one of my favorite past-times; I have now visited 21 countries and still have lots to explore in the United States. In my spare time I enjoy reading and watching John Green videos and Doctor Who episodes.
