PSYCHOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO MISINFORMATION IN MINDS AND SOCIETY
Misinformation is a topic of high relevance, generating great concern due to its multiple negative effects on our society. The discipline of Psychology advances the understanding of how and why people engage with misinformation, conspiracy theories, attacks on science and hate speech, and develops evidence-based interventions designed to reduce individual susceptibility to misinformation.
The CIMCYC International Doctoral Summer School: Psychological Approaches to Misinformation in Minds and Society will be a four-day, fully in-person event held from September 15 to 18, 2026.
It is organized by the Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC), a Maria de Maeztu Research Excellence center of the University of Granada (Spain).
The Summer School will focus on the psychology of misinformation, integrating views from the individual, group, and societal levels of analysis (e.g. basic cognitive processes, bias, persuasion, prejudice, identities, ideologies and values).
It is aimed at PhD candidates and early-career researchers in Psychology and related disciplines, such as Communication, Cognitive or Political Sciences, who approach research from a psychological perspective.
