Greetings...!

About myself

I am Mishal Roy; I have just completed my B.Sc. honors degree from the Department of Fisheries at the University of Chittagong, Chattogram 4331, Bangladesh. I always wanted to become a marine biologist and academician. I am very interested in Phylogeny study, DNA barcoding, Genetics and bioinformatics, Seaweed, Phytoplankton culture, Marine Gelatinous Zooplankton, and Conservation of Marine Biodiversity.

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. SM Sharifuzzaman, my research journey started with Nanochloropsis sp. (Isolated phytoplankton) culture from the Marine Biology and Systematics Lab. We isolated and identified this species from Potenga Sea Coast, Bangladesh. We also optimized the growth parameters for this species after so many experiments.

So far, I have learned about Gelatinous Zooplankton taxonomy and recorded two new distribution records (one salp & one scyphozoan jellyfish) on the Bangladesh coast of the Bay of Bengal. After that, I worked with Seaweed taxonomy and published a conference paper about seaweed diversity in Kutubdia Island, Bangladesh. Then, I joined a Freshwater Cab project and documented two new crabs with DNA barcoding in Bangladesh. I worked on some projects as a Student Research Assistant during this period. About this project, details are found in the Project tab.

My undergrad thesis is about the marine catfish diversity on the Bangladesh coast with molecular study. I have some good scientific data from this study and am preparing a manuscript using those.

It is a personal website about me. I have shown here all my life events and memorable days. Also included my research works, experiences, and Club activities to show everyone who wants to know me.
