Defending academic freedom takes more than the right principles and policies.  It takes people and solidarity.  That's why becoming a member of the AAUP is so important.  Joining is easy and your annual dues to the AAUP are adjusted to your annual academic income.  MU chapter members must be paid members of the AAUP (as of now we have no chapter dues).

Any person who holds (or is retired from) a professional position, full or part time, of teacher, researcher, graduate student, or related professional appointment, excluding administrators, at a college, university, or professional school of similar grade accredited in the United States or Canada, is eligible for active membership in the Association.  This includes librarians!

Here is the link to follow if you want to become a member of the Misericordia chapter of the AAUP:

Members of Misericordia's faculty may charge their AAUP dues to their academic departments or their faculty professional development funds as a professional organization membership.

As a member of the Misericordia faculty, once you join the AAUP please notify the Misericordia chapter so that it can log you in as a member in good standing  of the MU AAUP!
