Black Rock City Honoraria Artists
Harmony Tryon and Mark Swizee
& Honorarium Installation Recipients 2022
Our burning heart sculpture concept was born as a memorial for a lost loved one.
Today, our pieces reflect grief but also growth and healing. We strive to warm hearts, especially as we return to our home in Black Rock City after this chilling time we have all experienced during these rough past few years.
In the crucible of sorrow, we forged a symbol that goes beyond the mere representation of loss. Our pieces are not only a testament to the enduring flame of love but also a reflection of the profound growth and healing that occurs within the heart after loss. Each sculpture encapsulates the transformative journey from pain to resilience, capturing the essence of hope rekindled.

Our current project is partially funded by an honoraria grant we received. Our piece will be displayed at burning man this year. (We will have updates on the camp location soon!).
Burning man will be held from Sun Aug 28- Mon Sep 5 this year. The '22 BRC theme is 'Walking Dreams'.
We will be building multiple (6 to 12) small flaming hearts, each with unique and interactive stands. These hearts will surround one large center heart. The center heart will be our memorial heart.
We want our project to not only be visibly beautiful, but have a beautiful back story too!
This is a big project and we need lots of support. With help of our community through volunteer time, donations (monetary and material), and work spaces, we can achieve this.
Giving back to our community is an important value of ours. We hope that this project will bring people together, help new artists emerge, and teach our participants useful, important trade skills such as welding and fabrication.
