Dr. Jocelyn L. Brown
Dr. Jocelyn L. Brown is an Assistant Professor at Ohio University. Her research looks at structural inequality, racial capitalism, and health gaps in the lives of Black people, particularly in the Appalachian region. With training in gerontology, sociology, and psychology, she studies how racism, policies, and the medical system influence daily experiences of illness, loss, and survival.
She started Miscarriages for Black Girls as both an archive, personal testament, and a community effort. It serves as a space for Black women and femmes to share their truths, which are often ignored in medical records and public discussions. Dr. Brown lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and two children.
