This event requires that participants demonstrate the following:
Chutzpah: Alternatively, 'shamelessness', 'silliness', or 'childlike spirit'. Essentially, be prepared to get a bit weird.
A Competitive Spirit: Just because you're doing a bunch of silly challenges, it doesn't mean you can't take the competition seriously. Think of the ruthlessness you brought to recess games in elementary school (they outlawed 'Red Rover' for a reason, right?).
Attendance: Show up. Enough said.
Attention to Detail: Make sure you read all of the rules and challenge details carefully. There are deadlines to keep, emails to send, links to click... even the most carefree of games requires a little administrative oversight.
Kindness: Yes, it's a competition. Yes, we expect a fair amount of heckling and banter (in fact, it's encouraged). But ultimately this event is about having a little fun together; stay classy, San Diego.
During the event, points will be awarded based on the Mirth Master's subjective judgement. Factors that might influence points include how long it took you to complete the task, how closely you followed the instructions, whether the Mirth Master likes the cut of your jib, etc.
There are three different types of challenges: Prerecorded, Show & Tell, and Live Tasks.
Prerecorded: These challenges must be completed and filmed prior to the event, and submitted by March 23rd. Please record in landscape mode, when possible. All videos will be shared during the live event-- please do not share them with anyone but the Mirth Master.
Show & Tell: You must bring an item (or a photo of an item) to the event that you think best reflects each category. Points will be awarded based on how well your submission meets the criteria given.
Live Tasks: These challenges will take place during the event. You will not know what the tasks are ahead of time, although you may be given some instructions in terms of items to have on hand.
Please submit photos and videos of your completed challenges to the Mirth Master as soon as you're able. The latest you can submit is by 8pm on Wednesday, March 23rd.
