Being in this program has been such a privilege.
I have learned so much about Deaf culture and the Deaf community. I have been encouraged and challenged through this entire journey. Through my peers and my professors, I have found support and confidence in my interpreting and in myself. I have been challenged professionally and personally. I have been pushed and have had my limits tested. I see a different person than I was four years ago, and I'm better because of it. I am so proud of the interpreter and the person I've become.
The best advice and one of my favorite moments is when I was struggling and I had a meeting with Dr. Hill. She saw my struggle and encouraged me to measure myself to the progress I've made instead of the goal I intend to reach. I've carried that with me ever since. Looking back I can see how much progress I've made and the growth I've had. I am forever grateful!
I want to express my gratitude to Sharon Hill, Merrilee Gietz, Terrell Brittain, Naomi Sheneman, and Scot Pott.
