Born in Oral, raised in Astana
Miras Zhugunussov was born on January 20, 2000, in the city of Oral, located in the northwest of Kazakhstan. However, he spent his entire childhood and adolescence in Astana.
He was raised in an artistic family.
Indeed his father, Erbolat Zhugunussov, is a former dancer and choreographer, and his mother, Ainur Zhugunussova, is an actress and producer. She is also the president of the public republican association "Kazakh Mothers – The Path to Traditions (Kazakh Analar - Dasturge Zhol)"
Miras is the second of four siblings.
His older brother, Rustem - 04.03.1995 - is a former singer who stepped away from the music scene between 2021 and 2022 to fully embrace Islam and a spiritual life.
His younger brother, Muhammedali - 04.11.2003 - is a singer who participated in The Voice Kazakhstan in 2023.
The youngest of the family is the discreet Altair - 24.04.2013 - a football fan just like Miras.
A footballer on stage
Although he initially aspired to become a footballer, Miras began his musical journey at a very young age. At 8, he was already performing on stage alongside his brothers, Rustem and Muhammedali. Together, they formed the group Zhugunussov Brothers.
On stage, they performed their own songs, as well as global hits such as "We Are the World", "Stayin’ Alive", and "How Deep Is Your Love".
While he sang alongside his brothers, Miras took on the role of the group’s rapper: a deep, raspy, torn voice that contrasted with his calm, quiet personality — a young boy who sometimes faded into the background.
Rustem, more dominant, charismatic, and theatrical, stood out thanks to his vocal agility and ability to hit high notes, while Muhammedali charmed the audience with his high-pitched voice and youthful charisma, reminiscent of emerging international pop singers from the 2010s.
While both of them were taking part in singing contests and winning prizes, Miras was focusing on football, karate, basketball and chess.
Giving his voice to a Disney OST
In 2016, Miras took part in the Kazakh pop adaptation of the Disney track "You’re Welcome", from "Moana" with his brother Rustem. He was assigned the rap part, while the lead vocals were performed by Rustem.
In 2017, he released his very first solo track, titled "Senimen".
Winner of a contest in Georgia
In 2018, he took part in the "Discover Silk Road Star" contest in Batumi, Georgia, stepping in for his brother Rustem, who had fallen ill and was unable to participate. During the competition, Miras performed three songs: one in Kazakh, one in Georgian, and the iconic rock anthem "It’s My Life" by Bon Jovi — a song that showcased the raw, husky edge of his voice.
After three rounds, he shared first place with Emilia Yagubova from Azerbaijan and Salome Mirianashvili from Georgia. However, Emilia Yagubova was ultimately declared the winner after a drawing of lots.

"I sing when I miss you"
In 2019, Miras began gaining recognition as a solo artist with the release of his debut EP, "Andetemin". The record includes six tracks, all composed by Murat Kabylov, a friend of the family who had previously written for the Zhugunussov Brothers.
On September 14th, Miras performed "Andetemin", one of the standout tracks from the EP, at the renowned "Gakku Dauysy" festival held in Astana that year. The music video for the song had previously premiered on the official Youtube channel of "Gakku TV".

A few months later, on December 1st, he took part in the annual “Choice of the Year” ceremony at Almaty Arena, performing in front of nearly 12,000 attendees and over two million viewers during the New Year’s Eve broadcast. That night, he received the “Choice of the Year – 2019” award.

A creative collaboration
Starting in 2020, Miras began appearing in various events with a trio of Kazakh content creators – Aden Margulan (aka Margo), Zhanselik Kadyrbayev, and Yerbol Khamza – known as the TJOKERS and famous for their humorous videos on social media.
Alongside them, he took part in promotional content for multiple brands, including “Rodnoi Burger”, a fast food chain launched by Kadyrbayev, and “Margo Flowers”, a flower boutique brand founded by Margo.
He was also seen experimenting with ASMR content for the sushi restaurant chain “Maki Maki”, offering lighthearted food reviews and tastings with Margo for promotional videos.
In 2021, Miras officially announced that Aden Margulan had become his producer. From that moment on, he also began working with Baurzhan Sadu for the visual direction of his growing number of music releases. Mood videos were also filmed by Azamat Orazymbet to accompny three of the most prominent tracks from his 2019 EP.

The show has begun
On March 6, 2022, Miras held his very first solo concert at the Bulokan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty. The venue was sold out.
It was during this show that he premiered “Son”, a Russian-language song written years earlier by Mona Songz.
He also introduced “Oilai Berem”, a duet with 2RAR (Turar Ydyrys) written especially for the occasion. The track went on to win “Best Feat” at the BEU Awards later that year.
A series of concerts followed: March 13 in Astana, then May 15 in Aqtau, May 17 in Atyrau, and May 19 in Aqtobe.
Football in a store
Still guided by his childhood passion for football, the same year Miras opened “Debut” a line of football stores in Almaty and Astana.
The brand celebrates the sport he loves — offering handcrafted jerseys and gear for the field.
Note that he his a supporter of Chelsea FC and a fan of the Belgian player Eden Hazard.

A tour with 2RAR
In late September and early October 2022, Miras and 2RAR went on a joint tour across the Turkistan region of Kazakhstan. They performed in several cities and towns including Saryagash, Zhetisay, Keles-Abay, Lenger, Ordabasy, Sayram, and Kentau — a series of intimate shows that brought them closer to audiences in the south of the country.
On October 29, they gave a special joint concert in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, marking their first international stage together.
A concert had also been scheduled in the United States during that period, but it had to be canceled due to a visa issue.

Miras Tour 2023
A great journey through Kazakhstan
His “Miras Tour 2023” began on April 22 in the Almaty Arena and ended in May of the same year. Ten concerts were held across nine cities of Kazakhstan, marking one of the most extensive tours of his career.
The year 2023 clearly stands as a turning point in Miras’s musical path. After long-time composer Murat Kabylov — who had accompanied him since the beginning — stepped away from music, Miras began to release his own compositions for the first time.
Following the release of his second EP, he collaborated with Nazima on the track "Taptym, Mahabbatpen, Jusan" produced for Jusan, a major financial group in Kazakhstan, conveying a message of universal love. This was soon followed by two original songs: “Biz Ekeumiz”, whose music video was made in 2D animation, and “Beri Qara”, a track Miras had already previewed during an Instagram live session three years earlier.
In September, he released the original soundtrack “Sayahat” for the film “Bari Öz Kolynda”, which features a brief vocal cameo by Alem from the Q-pop band Ninety One.
In the music video, he appears alongside actress Assel Sagatova, the film’s heroine. The song — written by Sayat Rakhymzhan — is an ode to life, its melody showcasing Miras’s promising potential as a composer.

The end of the year was marked by the release of his second duet with 2RAR, “Oiladyn Ba?”, echoing their first collaboration “Oilai Berem”, and by his cover of “Zhanym” for the third season of Yeski Taspa.

Unchained Melodies
Miras began 2024 with the release of "Zholdama", which quickly became one of his signature songs — joining the ranks of "Zymyran", "Andetemyn", "Sen Turaly", "Shyda", and "Oilai Berem", tracks he continues to perform at nearly every event.
The music video, directed by Baurzhan Sadu, carries a cinematic flair reminiscent of Hollywood action films.
On March 3, 2024, his brother Muhammedali Zhugunussov released "Sen Suie Almadyn", a track composed by Miras.
That same year, Miras contributed to the soundtracks of two films directed by Samat Surzhan and produced by Aden Margulan.
"Sen Zhalgyz Emessin" — a song he had previously performed with his brothers as part of the Zhugunussov Brothers — was reimagined for the dramatic film "Ottegi".
Meanwhile, "Baqyt", a song about happiness, became the main soundtrack for the comedy "Kettik Barin Tasta".
Miras shared that he wrote the melody after receiving the lyrics, describing it as one of the easiest and most special songs he had ever composed — one that was not originally meant to become a soundtrack.
On the Road Again with Turar
Starting in late April, Miras embarked on a national tour alongside singer 2RAR, performing together in several major cities across Kazakhstan.
He also held sold-out solo concerts — one at Almaty Arena and two at the Congress Center in Astana.
During the tour, he introduced his new duet "Ğashyqpyn", composed with Kazybek Kuraiysh.
A few days before their first joint concert in Taldyqorgan, Miras and 2RAR volunteered in Oral, helping build dams to protect local areas from flooding.
Around the same period, Miras began collaborating with b1r.production, an Almaty-based video production company directed by Shokan Adai (aka Shokangoo). Together, they produced music videos, promotional visuals, and several creative campaigns for his concerts.
Fifteen Years of Dedication
In May 2024, Miras was awarded the "Excellence in the Field of Culture" badge by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This distinction recognizes cultural figures with at least fifteen years of professional experience, honoring their creative achievements and lasting contribution to the country’s cultural development.
Collaborations continue and that's a crush!
In August, Miras took part in the "inDrive Cypher" project alongside Yenlik and Zaq, releasing the track "Zhol". The project also featured three newcomers, chosen through a TikTok contest, giving aspiring singers the opportunity to appear alongside established artists.
At the end of the year, he released a duet with Kalifarniya titled "Qymbattym", with a music video directed by Shokangoo. Their collaboration on the song earned them the "Crush 2024" title at the 7th Kyzyk Premiya Awards — the New Year’s humorous award of the Kyzyk Times show, and one of the most anticipated entertainment events of the season.
