We are a research group working at the interface of polymer synthesis, mucus-mimetic hydrogels, and pathogen inhibition, where we integrate fundamental polymer chemistry with biomaterials science to develop bioinspired materials for biomedical and therapeutic applications. 

Our central inspiration is mucus, one of the body's most sophisticated natural defense systems.  Mucus protects every mucosal surface of the human body through a rich network of glycopolymers. We study and recreate this system synthetically to build materials with superior protective abilities, hydration, therapeutic capabilities, and an in-vitro disease model system for mucus-related research.
