OBITUARY for GODOFREDO OSWALDO AURAZO
March 8th, 1978- December 29th, 2020
On Tuesday, December 29, 2020 Godofredo (Godo) Oswaldo Aurazo-Herrera, protective father, attentive husband, caring son and brother, and dedicated employee passed away in his sleep at the young age of forty-two. Though our hearts are broken, the memories of his noble life, of his industrious example, and of his distinct laugh and sense of humor are uplifting and healing.
Godo was born on March 8, 1978 and was raised in Chiclayo, Peru where he developed a deep love for his Peruvian heritage. Due to his family’s great sacrifice he attended and graduated from Senati, with a degree in auto-mechanics. He served in the Lima Central Peru mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his early 20’s, Godo migrated to the United States on a student visa and later became a citizen in 2006. He graduated from Utah Valley University in Accounting. He was working for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Financial Service Department and had the privilege to work with many individuals from around the world. Perhaps the most significant day of his career was when Godo had the opportunity to meet his hero, President Russel M. Nelson. Godo always felt a close connection with President Nelson and was striving to live by his teachings- his favorite being “God loves effort”.
Godo is an incredibly hard worker on and off the clock. He would do anything to provide for his family. He was a master for finding deals. His favorite hobby was to peruse KSL classifieds- buying and selling anything from cars to kayaks and everything in between. He had an eye for a good deal and could negotiate anything. During the COVID-19 pandemic his family's favorite find was an enormous backyard pool for free!
Family was everything to Godo. He was always watching over them and showing them his love in his own special and unique ways. He loved to shop for them, share his heritage with them and even tease them. Being called “Moose” and “Goat”, “Sweetie” and “Mi Amour” were all terms of endearment at home. He showed love by celebrating differences even in his own home. We have no doubt he will continue to be the best of protectors.
Godo is survived by his wife Ashlee (Heslington), his four children Austin (15), Tyson (13), McKayla (7) and Blake (4), his mother Maria Herrera, his five sisters and an innumerable amount of people who love and respect him. He is preceded in death by his father Godofredo Oswaldo and an infant brother Enrique.
A viewing open to the public will be held Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 at Nelson Family Mortuary, 545 E University Pkwy suite 200-13, Provo from 6-8 pm. A private viewing and funeral will be held the following day for the family and broadcasted via zoom at 11:00 am. Flowers and donations can be sent to the funeral home as well as a Gofundme account has been set up under his name.
Though his physical presence will no longer grace us, Godo’s legacy of life will continue. We love you Godo!
