11.2.22: Meeting Recap:  We concluded our exploration of the alignments between the Science of Reading and Montessori reading framework. The group compiled a document showing the alignments. This document and the recordings from the session can be found under the Langauge section of the share site. The document is a great resource to help create a common language around reading competencies and a child's progress through their reading journey.

10.12.22: Meeting Recap: Our last meeting focused on the Science of Reading, and we began discussing how these findings align with the Montessori program for reading.  It was a great beginning to this important discussion. This analysis and conversation will continue during our November 2nd meeting, where the group will begin to isolate the strands of readings and align them with the Montessori reading program.

9.21.22: Meeting Time Change.  Our October 5th meeting has been changed to October 12th.  Please update your calendars, and we will see you on October 12th to discuss the Science of Reading. Please make sure to review the items shared under Langauge Development tab in preparation.

9.7.22: Meeting Recap: Thanks to all that attended our first meeting of the 2022-2023 school year last night.  The discussion focused on sensitive periods and the importance of putting these periods at the center of our work in the classroom.  The group discussed the sensitive periods and shared examples of how these periods are observed in the classroom.  Sensitive periods will be the focus of upcoming meetings. The next meeting [Ocotber 5th] will focus on the sensitive period for language.   The group will review the new trend in reading development and instruction called the Science of Reading. Please click on the Langauge Development link below to review several resources to orient yourself to this movement. During our next session, we will discuss what this means from a Montessori perspective and how to interpret what is being communicated from a Montessori point of view.

8.30.22:  We are excited to begin our 22-23 PLC meetings!  We will continue to meet on the first Wednesday of the month.  This year we will weave the thread of the sensitive periods of development through our discussions.  As always, we will also have an open forum for you to raise topics of interest for discussion. Our first meeting will be on September 7th, 6:30 to 7:30 pm Central time.
