Understanding the mass loss history and the circumstellar magnetic field of the extreme red supergiant VY CMa

Hiroko Shinnaga  (Kagoshima University)

We showcase our study on the extreme red supergiant (RSG), VY CMa, based on the observational results taken with several molecular line observations along with optical/infrared/submillimeter-wave bands observations. We discuss the mass loss history over the past ~ 1000 years and the role of the RSG's magnetic field as a supernova progenitor.
