Rules/Conditions

I. Stage 1

Round robin format
8 games per pairing
Time control is 60 minutes + 10 seconds increment/move.
The top 4 engines by total score will advance to stage 2.
Total score is calculated by number of wins plus number of draws divided by 2. If there are 6 participants the maximum total score that a player can get is 5 x 8 = 40 points.
If there are tied scores, they are resolved in order by

a. Direct encounter

b. Sum of opponents' scores that a player has defeated plus half the sum of opponents' score that a player has drawn.

II. Stage 2

Composed of 4 players from stage 1
Round robin format
16 games per pairing
Time control is 60 minutes + 10 seconds increment/move.
The players are ranked by total score they get.
Total score is calculated by number of wins plus number of draws divided by 2.
If there are tied scores, they are resolved in order by

a. Direct encounter

b. Sum of opponents' scores that a player has defeated plus half the sum of opponents' score that a player has drawn

c. Rematch at TC of 2m + 1s inc/move for 16 games

8. The Champion is the player that gets the highest number of points.

III. Engine settings

Memory is 256 MB
Single core
Own book, learning, endgame tablebase, pondering and use of position database will be disabled
Resign will be used if engine supports it.

IV. Hardware

i7-2600K, 3.4 Ghz, 12 Gb RAM, 4/8 physical/logical cores, HT on, Windows 7 OS.
Engines are set to run in logical cores 0 to 5.

V. Starting position

Stage 1 will use minishogi-ch-4start.pgn
Stage 2 will use minishogi-ch-8start.pgn
Each opening will be played twice for every matched engines.

VI Tournament GUI

Winboard will be used with its integrated tournament manager at game concurrency of 6.
Ponder is set to off
Win/Loss adjudication is set to off.
