trying shein!
Hi guys! As I was on social media these past couple weeks I noticed a trend that is taking the fashion media by storm. All over Instagram, Snapchat, and especially Tik Tok there are people wearing, trying, and ordering from a website called Shein. Their hauls include clothes, jewelry, and even household items. I couldn't tell for myself whether it was a scam or not through the videos and pictures so I decided to try it out.
I jumped on the app they have and was immediately overwhelmed with popup ads and coupon codes.There was so much to look at and so many sale signs and colors. As I began to browse through the clothes I was literally shocked at how many options of everything they have. On the app it says they get thousands of arrivals to the app every single day. I can’t even fathom that. Today as I’m writing this it says they received 2,653 new arrivals.
Looking through the clothes I realized it can be very hit or miss. Some things are so out there that I can’t picture ANYONE wearing them. But some things are trendy and fit in with the fashion styles of today. With that in mind however, it took me a while to find cute stuff that I personally would wear. It literally took hours of scrolling to find clothing that was my size and style. I ended up with 10 things: a dress, tank top, skirt, purse, hair bandanna, three necklaces, and room vines. The order total was about $50. That’s about $5 per item which is insane to think about. Most online shops are really expensive with a shirt averaging around $25-$30. I ordered it and a week later my package arrived.
My package shipped all the way from China and only took a week; I was pretty impressed especially because most reviews I’ve read/watched said it took months. The package was pretty roughed up with scratches and rips, but everything was there and accounted for. They packaged everything up in separate zip bags with return instructions. Like I said before, Shein is a hit or miss. Some items like the purse, the bandanna, and the jewelry were such good quality that I was actually shocked. Other items such as the shirt, the vines, and the tank top were very cheap looking and not good quality. I am going to give a quick review on everything I ordered. I will put the pictures below of the pieces and a quick review of what I thought about them.

This dress is my favorite item that I bought; it is SO cute and such good quality.
This two items are not the best quality. The tank top feels like a swim suit and the skirt is so see through.
This purse is such a good quality and is so cute.
This is also one of my favorite items. It is so silky and looks expensive.
These vines were very cheap looking but still affordable.
My overall review for Shein is that it is definitely worth it if you sort through the thousands of clothes and find the few good items. If you order a bunch of items you don’t like they do have a return policy, but it comes with a catch. Your first return is free, but after that it is $6.99. That is almost always going to be more than the item you bought so it makes no sense to send it back. Overall, the clothes are cheap and some are even cute; but it can either be very good quality or very poor. You are taking a chance if you order from them. I personally will order from them again for jewelry, dresses, and other items that I know will be good. Happy shopping <3!
