Fun Funky Functions

Make your own Game using Code Theory

Use the skills you learned playing Miner Madness and become a game maker, using topics from your class.

Outcome Statement:

Students are to break up into groups of 3 or 4 and given a theme or choose one for their gameplay. Students will create two characters and three helpful items based on the theme they have chosen or been given.

They are to write a small paragraph or story describing the characters situation and what they are going to do. Students must navigate the grid using functions and must pick up the three helpful items and then get to the end square to complete the game. Students use functions in a critical thinking way to navigate the grid and pick up the helpful items.

Functions

Before the start of the game you must create 3 functions.

To create a function, roll the action die 3 times and record the 3 actions that you get.

You can use these actions in any order to create the function but you must use all 3 on a single turn. If you roll a function that has the same 3 actions in it, you must re roll the dice so that you have 3 unique functions. Within those 3 functions you need to have at least 1 turn, 1 pickup, and 1 forward movement. If you don’t not have all 3 of these actions within your 3 functions, you must re roll at least one function until you do.
