Mind Over Slammer is a national poetry initiative from Mind Over Matter Arts, combining free creative workshops with regional poetry slam competitions across the UK, culminating in the Mind Over Slammer National Grand Finale in London.
After an incredible first run in 2023/24, we’re doing it all over again — bigger, louder and of course, nationwide.
Our aim is to create opportunities for people to develop their writing and performance skills, discover new voices and give emerging and established poets the opportunity to perform on professional stages across the country.

THE ROAD TO THE GRAND FINALE
The 2026/27 programme features six FREE regional poetry workshops and six regional slam heats, leading to the National Grand Finale in central London.
Regional slam winners and first runners-up progress to the Grand Finale, where the national finalists compete for £3,000 in prize money:
🥇 1st — £1,500
🥈 2nd — £1,000
🥉 3rd — £500

The winner of the 2027 Mind Over Slammer National Grand Finale will earn a place in the 2028 UK & England Slam! Championships, run by Farrago Poetry, since 1994.
The UK & England Slam! Championships provide a route to the European Poetry Slam Championships.
Win at Farrago → European Championships → finish in the European Top 10 → World Poetry Slam Championships.
