Anxiety is one of the most common things that can develop in youth who use social media. Although social media use may seem like the cause there is also a positive that we will cover. For example, those who already suffer from social anxiety have been able to cope through the media and having interactions online since there is not really anything to be anxious about since it is not always face to face. Even though only having online interactions/relationships isn't the best for mental health it has helped many of those with anxiety find a way to actually make connections therefore opening up more opportunities.
On the contrary, many studies have been conducted to find out if there are any correlations between social media usage and anxiety. In the findings, social media, although not consistently, has led to many negatives in youth such as poor academic performance, trouble sleeping, anger issues and other side effects of anxiety caused by social media.
