RATIONALE
RATIONALE
The purpose of this website is to compile all available and accessible dance literature of Northern Mindanao into a repository. Providing that the utilization of these dances into academe will duly integrate respect and value to the core community and heritage of these dances. Dance literature is composed of the dance's brief history and background, costume, music, and dance steps. Aiding the educators, coaches, students, and other beneficiaries of efficiency and a one-stop website for dance literature.
DUGSO
DUGSO
Dugso, a dance from northeastern Mindanao people performs this dance to entertain the deities during the fiesta, hoping to increase their favor towards the celebrants.
KAPPA-MALONG MALONG
KAPPA-MALONG MALONG
Kappa Malong-malong, also known as Sambi sa Malong, originates from the Maranao tribes of Mindanao in the Philippines. The dance illustrates the various ways of wearing a 'malong', a versatile piece of cloth.
BINANOG
BINANOG
Binanog is an indigenous dance from the Philippines portraying the movements of an eagle or hawk.
PANGALAY
PANGALAY
The traditional "fingernail" dance of the Tausug people of the Sulu Archipelago and the eastern coast Bajau of Sabah is called Pangalay.
SINGKIL
SINGKIL
Singkil, a dance originating from Mindanao, is said to be a dance of Muslim royalty.
ESCALA
ESCALA
Escala is usually dance at wedding celebrations. It is customary to perform it after the wedding dinner.
