I am Shun Minami and 3rd year PhD student (for 5 years course) in The Graduate Institute for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI), Integrative Evolutionary Science(RCIES).
My research interests are coevolution of pathogens and hosts, diversity driven by pathogen and eco-evolutionary dynamics in infectious diseases.
For specific examples, I am interested in coevolutionary dynamics in host, pathogen (fungus, virus, bacteria etc.) and vector (insect).
I explore the evolutionary consequences of host-pathogen interaction by using mathematical method, such as population dynamics, evolutionary game theory, adaptive dynamics theory and population genetics.

This theoretical study shows that parasite transmission based on self/non-self recognition system can drive the unlimited diversification of genotypes responsible for the recognition. This mechanism can explain the extraordinary diversity of self/non-self recognition genes found in fungi and marine colonial organisms in nature.
