FAQ

Will there really be a million teachers marching?

While we do not realistically see 1,000,000 teachers making it to Washington, DC on Labor Day, we would love smaller marches to take place in every major city across this country. If you would like to lead one such march in your city, please let us know so we can support your efforts as best as possible!

Where specifically will the march be held in Washington D.C.?

The march will begin at 9 AM on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial (permit pending) on Labor Day, Monday, September 5th, 2022. Over the course of three hours (or less) participants will walk down either side of the Lincoln Reflecting Pool to the Washington Monument. From there they will walk to Union Square, finishing up there just short of the U.S. Capitol Building.

*It would be best to come to the area of the National Mall via Metro train. You can use one of the following stops: Arlington Cemetery, L'Enfant, Smithsonian, or Federal Triangle.

What do I need to bring?

Definitely wear comfortable shoes for marching/walking, appropriate clothing for the day (we strongly suggest buying the T-shirt linked from our home page for a show of solidarity), and be certain to bring water to keep hydrated. We will try to bring as many poster boards as possible, and thick markers too, so that you can create a sign to carry, but feel free to bring one from home if you can!

Will there be restrooms?

Since we are not seeking sponsorship we will not be renting porta-potties, however, there are some public restrooms that should be available on the National Mall.

Is there anything I can do to help even if I can't march?

Absolutely!!! Please share our efforts with any and all social media networks you are a part of. Get reporters or celebrities in touch with us if you have such connections. Simply put, help spread the word!!!

What is the overall point of the march?

It’s a simple concept here…Teachers spend their lives, their time, their money, and pretty much their blood, sweat, and tears doing what is right for students. Yet, who is doing what’s right for them? This is not an anti-(school_district_name_here) campaign. Hell, it’s not even political as far as we are concerned! We want to be trusted, valued, respected, and paid fair. We are not just directing this to teacher unions, lawmakers, or whoever else you might think this is for. As a society, and all PEOPLE making up that society, we must do better for teachers. They are retiring early, taking other jobs in other fields, and new ones are barely being created anymore!!! Our educational systems are FALLING APART and we all need to take notice. It is more dire than you can imagine so we are seeking the attention of the media, and thus the PEOPLE that consume such media!
