About Us

Three teachers met at the CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association) Conference 2022 in Chicago in mid-July. One of the teachers heard from a speaker (teacher) in his session about the need for more black male educators in our schools across the country. After the session, and in the hallway, these two gentlemen continued the conversation and were joined by a third teacher. A much bigger discussion ensued about equity in education and the looming teacher shortage crisis. When they all agreed that there are so many teachers leaving the classroom, so few educators being trained in college programs, and a negative overall public perception of teachers, the one teacher simply asked "Who is going to do something about all of this?" Simultaneously, the other two teachers responded "Us" and this movement was born.

*At this time we are choosing not to post our names simply because this is not about the three of us, because even a group of 3 teachers is not that strong. However, a group of 1,000,000 teachers has the power to change the world! We are not afraid to say who we are either, we just want to focus things for now on the effort and not on us!
