Welcome! I’m Milla Titova, a social and personality psychologist interested in how people pursue, experience, and make sense of happiness and well-being - both for themselves and others.
I’m currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Arizona. My research draws from positive psychology, self-determination theory, and cultural psychology to explore how everyday emotional experiences are shaped by our goals, environments, and relationships.
Some of the questions I explore include:
How does trying (and failing) to help others impact well-being?
What makes a space feel like “home,” and how do others pick up on that?
How do cultural norms shape when and how we express happiness?
My work is grounded in the belief that people flourish when they connect meaningfully with others. Whether studying happiness, hominess, or helping, I'm most interested in the everyday moments that bring us closer together.
