I am a Professor of Operations Management at the SNU Business School of Seoul National University.
Prior to joining SNU, I served as an Assistant and Associate Professor at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I received my Ph.D. and M.S. from Northwestern University, and B.S. from Yonsei University.
My research lives in the convex hull of operations, markets, and society. Operations is my home: I ask how firms and managers should make decisions and execute. Markets are the strategic environment in which those decisions play out. Society is the broader canvas: who else is affected, and what are the consequences beyond the firm's bottom line.
This space naturally leads me to sustainable and socially responsible operations: renewable energy, green technology, food systems, emerging economies, and institutional context. I draw on analytical modeling including optimization, game theory, and machine learning (RL), and increasingly on empirical methods.
