I am currently conducting fieldwork along the Rio Grande, investigating the carbon dynamics of the arid floodplain. My research focuses on the factors that influence carbon stocks in river systems, with an emphasis on sediment and water movement and their implications for climate change mitigation.
In July 2024, I participated in an exploratory fieldwork trip to the western region of Paraguay, investigating sedimentation dynamics in the Pilcomayo River and their impacts on local communities. This research focused on understanding sediment transport processes and their implications for environmental management in the region, while also providing experience in a Spanish-speaking area.
As part of the Global Treks January 2024 expeditions, I participated in a field study trip to Tenerife, Spain, where I explored the geological processes on the volcanic island. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of volcanic activity and its effects on the surrounding landscape. The culmination of the trip was the publication of a field guide to the area, which highlights key geological features and their significance. This field study also provided valuable experience in a Spanish-speaking region, enhancing my ability to conduct research in non-English-speaking environments.
