In March 2022, the Biophysical Society Student Chapter of the University of Milano participated to the seventh international Biophysics Week, an event originally established by the international Biophysical Society (BPS) to reach a broad community of scientists interested in this topic. The biophysics week has been celebrated by many scientists around the world through a series of seminars, educational talks, and discussion panels. The Milano Chapter contributed to this celebration by organising a series of talks with experts in the biophysics field, which offered their time and knowledge to answer the many questions of young scientists. Our guests – Jeremy Gunawardena (Harvard Medical School), Hatice Holuigue (Università degli Studi di Milano), Marco Buscaglia (Università degli Studi di Milano), Giuliano Zanchetta (Università degli Studi di Milano), Silvia Goldoni (Bayer Pharmaceuticals), and Ugur Cetiner (Harvard Medical School) – agreed to give talks about their own current research topics, as well as participating to more general question and answer sessions regarding the job of the biophysicist in both industry and academia. The research topics that were discussed ranged from the use of graph theory to study biological systems to the study of the origin of life through DNA liquid crystals, whereas the Q&A sessions offered valuable and genuine advice to the students, who are just now starting to make choices about their career path.
If you missed something or want to watch again the three talks of the week, you can find the recordings below.
Thanks for taking parts to the Milano BPS chapter Biophysical week, see you on our next events!
