Open the Apple Music App
Search for the purchased song
Click and hold the song for dropdown options on the iTunes Store
Select ‘Remove’ then click ‘Delete from Library’
It is now possible to stream the purchased song
Note:
Songs purchased on iTunes but streamed on Apple Music will NOT be counted; only songs played from a paid or free trial Apple Music subscription are considered valid streams
Do NOT loop a song or use only one playlist. Interact with the playlist by skipping songs, changing songs, etc.
Remixes count towards the streams of the original songs as well; thus, those songs can be added into the playlist
iPhone Users: To prevent automatic download of new or free purchases made on other devices:
Go to Settings on your device
Select ‘iTunes and App Store’
Turn OFF ‘Automatic Downloads’ for ‘Music’ and ‘Cellular Data’
