- MWMC is split into 4 groups based on skill level: Pascal, Ramanujan, Riemann, and Gauss. We place the students based on a diagnostic test, and make sure that they move up or down as we see them progress.
Do I need to prepare for MWMC meetings?
- No preparation is required. Our participants vary greatly in their age, experience and ability. We prepare the sessions for each of the groups based on their ability. We usually have a problem set where difficulty of the problems varies from easy to hard, with the idea that all the participants can work productively. You should not expect to understand everything and be able to solve all the problems. You can always talk to your group instructor if you have more specific questions.
Does the MWMC prepare students for math competitions?
- Our sessions consist of problem solving and critical thinking, so we are definitely practicing skills necessary in competitions like AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, AIME, Math Kangaroo, Math Olympiad, MathCounts etc.
Can I become an MWMC instructor?
- A recommendation from a co-founder or AIME qualification is required from all our instructors. If you are AIME qualified, email us at admin@midwestmathcircle.org for further inquiry.
- Due to space limit, classrooms are only for admitted students. Parents may attend when space available, but must promise not to participate in discussion or problem solving. MWMC is for the students, by the students.
