Climbers will be placed into one of three divisions based on their overall ranking. There are three male and three female divisions. The overall ranking is split into three equal sections, and climbers are assigned to a division according to their placement within those sections.
Beginner Division
Intermediate Division
Advanced Division
Scorecards have all routes and point values listed. For an attempt to count, the climber must have 1 witness that watched the attempt in its entirety sign off with their initials. Scorecards must be handed into the host staff on time and all writing must be legible.
Each host university will utilize the MCS Scoring Template.
Points are earned based on the completion of a route and the number of attempts needed.
Each individual's top 3 routes will be scored.
For competitions with tope rope and bouldering (hybrid), the climber's top 3 top rope routes + top 3 boulder routes = overall score.
The top 3 highest scoring individuals from each gender will compete in a finals round (host dependent).
MCS scoring is separate and different from the host site scoring.
The top male and female finisher earns 100 points, second place 90 points and so on using the scoring chart.
A climber’s top 3 scores will be counted towards the final MCS standings. At the end of the series, MCS will recognize the overall top three male and female climbers!
Team scores from all competitions will be counted towards determining the final MCS team standings. The sum of the top 3 men's and women's highest overall scores on your team will be used to determine your team score. The team with the most overall points will be the winner of the series!
In the event of a tie, the team with the lowest average attempts from their top 3 men and women will be declared the winner.
