Participate in MCS planning and coordination meetings.
Notify the MCS Planning Committee of competition dates by September 1 prior to the MCS season.
The series will provide a minimum of 45 days’ notice if a host withdraws.
Assist in promoting MCS by posting series flyers, promoting through social media, and other outreach efforts.
Support sponsorship solicitation. All outdoor brands must be approached on behalf of MCS. Local sponsors, such as restaurants and other small businesses may also be contacted.
Host universities are responsible for promoting all competitions and are encouraged to submit photos to the MCS Photo Archives within one week.
Adhere to MCS Competition Rules, utilize the MCS Scoring Template, and follow the MCS pricing structure.
The format for each competition (bouldering, top rope, or hybrid) is determined solely by the hosting university.
Competitions may be held off-site (commercial gym or local crag), but the host university is responsible for securing permits, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance.
Host universities may set entry fees at their discretion; however, the student rate must be applied to all students.
Submit competition results within 48 hours of the event.
Share participant lists, including email addresses, with MCS.
Unless approved otherwise by the Planning Committee, events must be open to all participants, regardless of student status, membership, or climbing ability. Accommodating community members and youth is highly encouraged.
Each hosting university is responsible for safety and risk management; liability is not shared.
Each competition site must provide:
A rules meeting prior to the climbing competition
Trained and qualified staff for belaying (if belayers are used)
At least one professional staff member on site, clearly identifiable and trained in the host school’s climbing wall policies and procedures, with final decision-making authority for competition questions and concerns
