General Information

Established in 2003, the Midwest School of Dance has continued to grow to be a place where each dancers potential is recognized. Located in Hamiota Manitoba, our dance club strives to be a place where all of our dancer’s dreams are realized. In 2003, our inaugural season began with just 20 students and we are beyond grateful to have a club that grows from year to year thanks to the amazing support we have received from the community and our dance families.

It goes without saying that there are many rules and responsibilities necessary to ensure a smooth-running dance program. At the Midwest School of Dance, we want every student and family to contribute to this. We want every student to have fun and be the best that they can possibly be! The character of a dancer is built through consistency, commitment, dedication, awareness and the discipline to maximize upon the classroom teaching/learning experience. Our program adheres to the following standards and failure to meet these requirements could result in the student being asked to withdraw from the classes.

1. Proper Studio Attire & Grooming: This is mandatory. A student not conforming to the dress standard may be asked to leave the class and will be welcomed back once the proper attire has been obtained.

2. Footwear: Please remove your street shoes in the foyer entranceway, entering class with only the proper dance shoes for the class.

3. Proper Classroom Behavior: A high standard of discipline will be maintained in the classroom. Class disruptions will result in the student being asked to leave the class and as a parent, you would be notified. Subsequent disruptions could result in the student being withdrawn from the class. 4. Regular & Prompt Attendance: Regular attendance is essential as all students are vital parts of our team. Non-attendance impacts both the group & the student involved. If for some reason the student is physically unable to participate in class, it is beneficial to have them observe the class rather than not attend.

Volunteers:

The dance program is organized by group of volunteers. There are plenty of jobs that need to be done, especially around recital time. If at any time you are interested in volunteering for any part of the dance program, please let us know by emailing midwestschoolofdance@gmail.com.
