FAQ

Q:  I am ready!  Can I send my entry in now?

A:  Per USEA rules, entries must be postmarked on or after the April 21st, horse trials opening date.

Q:  Do I have to follow all the rules,  or can I get an exception for the Rally?

A:  Since this is a USEA Recognized event, we must follow the USEA rules.  Exceptions for a USPC rule that is not in conflict with USEA rules can be considered.   Please contact Deb Frye with your request.

Q:  What disciplines are offered?

A:  Although this all falls under "Eventing" for the sake of clarity we are calling this two disciplines Horse Trial (3 phases) and Combined Test (2 phases)

Q:   Is cross entry allowed?

A:   No.  Each person can only enter in the Horse Trial or Combined Test discipines.

Q:  What happens if we have a 3-man team and we lose a member before rally begins?

A:   The Rally Secretary will move the remaining members to other teams so that they can still compete.

Q:   Why is a Stable Manager required for Eventing Teams?

A:   Stable Managers play an important role in helping the team get to each phase and rally event (ie:  Turnout/Horse Inspections) on time.  They are also important members of the team in the Vet Box.   Because this is such an important experience, members must have also competed at the Eventing Rally (on an Eventing team with cross country) as either a Rider or Stable Manager to qualify for Championships.

Q:    Can competitors share a horse?

A:   Not at this event.

Q:  What is the "Horse Inspection?"

A:  Horse Inspections were previously called "Jogs."   It is an opportunity to make sure that the horse is sound (not lame) before being ridden in competition.

Q:   Do we jog our horses every day?

A:   Yes - we jog our horses each day because this is good practice for Championships!

Q:   How do certification levels affect me at competition?

A:    Competitors are judged in Horse Management on their current HM level.  DCs/CAs have the responsibility to enter riders in competition at a level that they are competent.  (In other words, a new "D1" member who is competent to jump 3' can be entered at that level.  Conversely, a C2 member with a new green horse may only be allowed to jump 18".)  If you wish to compete in Championships and have not yet acheived the minimum HM certification, you must ask to be judged at the HM level required for competing in Championships

Q:    I'm 16 (Junior Division).  Can I be on a team with a friend who is 18 (Senior Division)?

A:    USPC has created age-related divisions for all disciplines.  In general the Midwest Region has not had enough competitors to create a Senior team, let alone a Senior Division so we are combining the Junior and Senior Divisions.  However, both the parent and the DC must consent to allow a Junior to compete on the same team as a Senior.  The parental consent is on the Parent Entry form and the DC consent is on the Team Entry form.  If both boxes are checked (consent given), then the Junior rider can be on the same team as the Senior.

Q:     What is the 2024 Mill Creek Team Challenge?  Can I enter my rally team as a team at the Horse Trial or can I submit a different team for the Mill Creek Team Challenge?

A:     The 2024 Mill Creek Team Challenge is a separate award and the team members can be the same as your Rally team mates entered in the Horse Trial (sorry - Stable Managers are not included in this team award) or different.  You can be on one rally team and on a different team with for the Mill Creek Pony Club.  Members can include other pony club rally competitors or non-rally competitors.  To enter submit team name and team members by 9:00 am on Saturday, June 8th, to the secretary.   (List up to 4 members per team, top 3 cross country scores count.   If desired, your 4th team member could be participating in the Combined Test.)   Fabulous prizes for all team members 1st through 3rd place after cross-country (includes dressage and cross-country scores). Prizes to be awarded Saturday at pizza party after cross-country in competitors' tent.
