How We Began
Mid State Environmentals, LLC was formed in 2009 by Dianne Law in Washington County. Dianne's background is in municipal services and compliance. We have contracted site compliance inspections for solar farms, hotels, roadways, and utility projects. At that time, we served mostly the Middle Georgia area.
In 2017, Dianne decided to retire from the company. Misty Tanner became the new owner and moved the office to Camden County, GA. Today, Mid State Environmentals offers a wide range of Stormwater Solutions for Projects in Georgia & Florida. Mid State is also a Certified Inspector for EPA Construction General Permits in states and jurisdictions that have the EPA as their NPDES Authority.

I began working for Mid State Environmentals in 2014 and earned my first GSWCC Certification in early 2015. I quickly learned the rules and procedures for E&S in GA. In 2017, I became the owner of the company and moved our office location to Camden County, GA. The following year, I obtained my Level I Trainer status and began conducting IA & IB Trainings, and also earned the Florida Erosion Control Certification. In 2019, I earned the Level IB certification. The following year,I began working with the City of St Marys to improve their LIA process and move towards the MOA. I received my Plan Review certification in 2020, and we began moving into the MOA process. Due to the adjustments made to the program, they were able to make an acceptable score to move into the MOA process. 6 months later, and another successful score, they were granted the MOA status. I continued to assist the City with its LIA program for a couple of years.
During my time in St Marys, I worked with several contractors who knew about the FL E&S but not GA. Knowing both programs allowed me to explain and compare them. I also worked closely with several engineering firms and developers during plan review. The jurisdiction was filled with wetlands and coastal marsh buffers, so this added particular difficulties when it came to processing permits and enforcement.
While working with the city, I became a Level 1 Building Inspector and a member of the Coastal Georgia Inspectors Association & the Building Officials of Georgia. I am also a member of NAWM and SWCD. At the 2024 Erosion Day Conference, I was awarded the Certified Plan Reviewer of the Year from GSWCC.
I have spent a great deal of time understanding the technical side of GA E&S. There are exemptions and "loopholes" to just about anything. I have written letters of remediation response to EPD/DNR, assisted with Buffer Variance Applications, reviewed hundreds of ES&PC Plans, and guided Local Issuing Authorities in the daily administration of the program. I also have my degree in Forestry Sciences.
Working on the coast has given me many opportunities to help people find the right solution for their property. Sandy, flat slopes, and high water tables bring their own bag of challenges. I enjoy finding products that work, so clients have great results! I am always looking for better solutions to the problem, whether it be erosion on a job site or the most efficient way to process paperwork. The E&S Program can be clear as mud; let us help clear it up!
