BSF is a national TEL programme to develop a range of resources to support staff engaged in simulation-based practice.
To establish and implement an expert-led, sustainable national programme to support the professional development of simulation educators, practitioners, technicians and managers from educational and care provider organisations
To ensure equitable access across professional, geographical and institutional boundaries
To enhance the quality of design, delivery and evaluation of simulation and immersive learning methodologies applied within the health & care sector
If you are a budding simulation trainer or want to brush up on the fundamentals of simulation course design, delivery and evaluation - the core modules are the place to start.
In order to complete the course you must:
Complete the 6 eLearning modules on eLearning for Healthcare. These can be freely accessed and completed at your own leisure. The resources have been designed and accredited by NHSE Technology Enhanced Learning team and co-created with experts in simulation delivery from across the United Kingdom.
Complete one of the Core workshops. This is a single-day face-to-face workshop designed to reinforce your learning from the eLearning and highlight to you the practical implications of designing and delivery your own simulation courses. Details of workshops being help in the Midlands and how to sign up are below.
For a full description and to access the eLearning please CLICK HERE
Various organisations around the Midlands - NHS and higher education - are hosting the core workshops. Below are a list of the upcoming venues and the contact details. While many centres will prioritise internal candidates many will have space for external candidates who are looking to complete the qualification. Please enquiry directly with these teams regarding places.
Please note - you will need to have completed the eLearning modules and provide evidence of this in order to sign up to many of these.
Any and all organisations engaged in simulation delivery are welcome to use the programme as part of their internal or external simulation faculty development.
The resources to host a workshop in your organisation are freely available. However, there are stipulation in place to ensure quality assurance, equitable access and regional collaboration in this venture. This includes:
Keeping the Midlands SimImm team up-to-date with any workshop dates and allowing them to be advertised on this website (even if there are no further places available)
Providing at least 2 faculty places for external faculty to support your course
Local leads need to attend a workshop elsewhere as external faculty before leading your own
If you want to host a workshop, please email england.simimm.midlands@nhs.net
If you are already engaged in simulation faculty development within your organisation and would like to contribute to our growing regional group that support the delivery of the BSF workshops, please email england.simimm.midlands@nhs.net.
