Backing Track Maker (BTM) is a program that runs on Windows computers and is designed to create a backing track on a Yamaha arranger keyboard. It supports most Yamaha arranger keyboards, certainly all the newer ones.
BTM creates backing tracks using any Yamaha arranger keyboard style the user chooses. It sends chord and style change information using system exclusive (sysex) messages which are standard across most of the Yamaha keyboard range.
In BTM chords and lyrics are entered into the built-in notepad. You can also use any software that creates plain text information like the Windows Notepad for example and then simply copy the text into BTM.
In the picture above is an example of part of a song. All you need to know are the few simple rules to make a backing track and generate the midi file, which can then be played back from the computer to your Yamaha keyboard. You can also record the playback as a midi or audio file. The midi or audio file can then be used as a song file on the keyboard for whatever purpose you want to use it for.
BTM is free to everyone, however it would be helpful to me if you subscribe to my youtube channel. The link to my channel is in the footer below. On the channel there is a full video tutorial series on how to use BTM to make backing tracks. Request the software via an email, which you will find in the descriptions of all the tutorials.
